Delta Normandy Legacy Flight Collaboration

Delta Normandy Legacy Flight Collaboration

They are our greatest generation.

And a unique partnership between Delta Air Lines, US charity Best Defense Foundation and UK manufacturer Aviramp continues to ensure the veterans of D-Day will never be forgotten.

For four years, Delta’s Normandy Legacy Flight has been bringing veterans back to northern France for commemoration events to mark the historic events of June 1944.

Former Kansas City Chiefs footballer Donnie Edwards, who heads up Best Defense Foundation with his wife, Kathryn, launched the flights in 2022 and they have gone from strength to strength.

This year, Aviramp, the global leaders in manufacturing step free ramps to make it easy and safe for everyone to get on and off aircraft, joined the partnership.

With 23 veterans needing to disembark the Normandy Legacy Flight by wheelchair in 2025, Aviramp not only manufactured one of its step-free International ramps in half the usual lead time but also donated it to be used for as long as the legacy flights continue.

Delta sponsored students from two schools to join the flight, meet the veterans and help ensure their courage and sacrifice burns bright in a new generation.

It’s 81 years now since the events of D-Day forged the world we live in today.

The Normandy Legacy Flight ensures that we continue to honour the men and women who fought so heroically in the name of freedom and tell their stories so that new generations can learn from them.
