Aviramp has continued its success in Australia with a deal to supply new equipment to a busy regional airport.
Hervey Bay Airport in Queensland has taken delivery of a new step-free ramp in a deal jointly financed between the local Fraser Coast Regional Council and Australian low-cost airline Jetstar.
Fraser Coast Mayor George Seymour said the mobile boarding ramp would help passengers get on and off flights more comfortably, boost safety and improve the overall customer experience at the Airport.
The ramp is already in use at the council-operated airport, which runs regular flights to Sydney, Brisbane and tourist destinations along the Queensland coast.
Aviramp chief executive Graham Corfield said the deal underlined Aviramp’s strength in the Australasian market.
“We are delighted to have supplied such an important regional airport with one of our step-free, non-slip ramps and look forward to a long and successful partnership with our friends at Hervey Bay and Jetstar.
“There are now more than 850 Aviramps in use around the world, with Australia a particularly important market for us.
“Aviramps are now in use across the country – we’ve just supplied four Continental ramps to Sunshine Coast airport in Queensland, for example – offering passengers greater comfort and dignity whatever their level of mobility, and increasing turnaround times for operators too.”
Councillor Seymour added: “The timing couldn’t be better, coming off the back of Jetstar’s decision to increase capacity on Hervey Bay services, which is delivering more than 38,000 extra low fare seats a year and making it easier than ever to explore the stunning Fraser Coast.
“We’re always looking at ways to improve the passenger experience at Hervey Bay Airport, and this new equipment will make boarding easier and safer for everyone.”
Jetstar’s Chief Operating Officer, Matt Franzi said the new ramp would offer several benefits for all passengers.
“Benefits include enhanced safety, improved turnaround efficiency and a more inclusive and dignified boarding experience, especially for our passengers with reduced mobility (PRMs).”
Hervey Bay Airport offers regular commercial services to Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney, K’gari and Lady Elliot Island.
